8 Foot Sativa working on new album for 2012

Auckland death / trash metal legends 8 FOOT SATIVA have started writing material for a fifth album. The band issued the following statement on their Facebook page:

“Hey everyone! Long time, Can’t wait too see you all! We’ve got lots of stuff planned for this year, including the greatest hits compilation and the 5th album which we are currently writing now. Sorry it’s been so long, Stay tuned!”

8 FOOT SATIVA went on hiatus in 2010 to allow for the recovery of guitarist and founding member Gary Smith. The band’s current line-up features Justin ‘Jackhammer’ Niessen who performed vocals on the first two 8 FOOT SATIVA albums ‘Hate Made Me’ (2002) and ‘Season For Assault’ (2003), guitarist Gary Smith, guitarist Nik Davies (PERDITIONIST) and Steve Boag (IN DREAD RESPONSE) on bass. Drum duties are yet to be confirmed.

8 FOOT SATIVA’s debut album ‘Hate Made Me’ received gold status in New Zealand for selling over 7,500 copies. The title track was number one on M2′s top 12 list for 12 weeks and stayed on the chart for seven months.

Some of the international acts 8 FOOT have supported include CHILDREN OF BODOM, DISTURBED, KORN, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and MOTÖRHEAD.
